Australia and India launched MATES
Australia and India support migration and mobility through the MMPA. They are committed to this support. This treaty allows legal movement between the two countries. It also addresses concerns about illegal immigration.
A key component of the MMPA is the Mobility Mission for Early Career Workers, or MATES. MATES is for recent university graduates and professionals in India. It gives temporary mobility. MATES is committed to sharing skills and knowledge between Australia and India.
Eligibility for MATES depends on various criteria about Indian citizenship.
- Age under 30 (including 30 years) at the time of application.
- Do not take part in MATEs studies before.
- Show your English skills with an IELTS score of at least 6.
- You also need at least 5 in each of the four subjects.
- You must graduate from the right schools.
- You must do this within 2 years of applying.
Have a bachelor’s degree or higher in one of the selected fields. These include Mining Engineering, Information and Communications Technology (ICT), or Agricultural Technology (AgriTech).
- it is worth noting that support from the Australian office at MATES does not must a visa.
- Participants in the MATES program have the opportunity to live and work in Australia for up to 2 years.
- Work is not required during this internship. But, the program aims to help young professionals. It aims to help them develop skills and promote communication and collaboration. This is especially true in the construction industry.
Mates’ first phase will start a pilot program. It will offer 3,000 spots a year to first-time applicants.
Participants may choose to apply to include family members. This includes spouses and dependent children. They’re eligible to work in Australia without being subject to annual quotas. Visa holders have 12 months to enter Australia for the first time. They can stay for 24 months from their first entry. They can make many entries.
If you meet the Visa requirements, you can stay longer in Australia. You can do this by applying for another temporary or permanent visa. MATES participants can’t reapply after joining the program.
Also, in MATES applications, applicants should expect to include their relatives’ extra costs. They should also include other costs, like English test fees.
MATES fosters greater cooperation between Australia and India in monitoring and responding to maritime security challenges such as piracy, illegal fishing, and trafficking in the Indian Ocean region. By sharing information, resources, and expertise, MATES helps in maintaining peace and stability in the maritime domain.
Under MATES, Australia and India conduct joint maritime patrols, share intelligence and information, organize training programs for naval personnel, and engage in capacity-building initiatives to strengthen maritime security capabilities in the region.
MATES aims to strengthen maritime domain awareness, improve interoperability between the naval forces of Australia and India, enhance cooperation in maritime security operations, and build capacity through training and exercises.
