What is category-based Express Entry?

In Category-based Entry, Canada invites candidates who meet certain qualifications, which may relate to one of the following:

  • Knowledge of English
  • Jobs
  • Education

In addition to the general draw and special draw, a category-based speed competition of laps was also held. To be eligible to receive an invitation from the Category-based Express Entry draw, you must meet all the conditions in the circular instructions.

When Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducts a category-based invitation round, it ranks the candidates who meet the category requirements and invites the best candidates to apply for infinity.

IRCC will provide all necessary details in the instructions for each round.

Please note that you must be eligible for an Entry Check before being invited to the Express Entry category. This means you must meet all eligibility requirements for the Canadian Experience Class, Federal Employment Service, or Federal Enterprise Administration.

How does Canada select groups?

Each year, IRCC informs Parliament about the groups selected in the previous year, including why and how the groups were selected, instructions on the composition of the groups, and the number of invitations made to all groups.

Canada will also include information about category-based Entry in its annual Express Entry year-end report. IRCC will also monitor and evaluate the groups to ensure ease of doing business.

Category-based Express Check-in offers a streamlined pathway for individuals who meet specific qualifications to apply for immigration to Canada. By targeting candidates based on factors such as language proficiency, job opportunities, and educational background, the system aims to efficiently select skilled individuals who can contribute to Canada’s economy and society. With clear instructions provided for each draw and ongoing monitoring to ensure effectiveness, Category-based Entry plays a crucial role in Canada’s immigration strategy, facilitating the smooth integration of talented individuals into the country.

The Express Entry system is an online system used by the Canadian government to manage applications for immigration to Canada under various economic immigration programs, including the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class.

In the Express Entry system, candidates create an online profile outlining their skills, work experience, education, language ability, and other relevant factors. Based on the information provided, candidates are assigned a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. Regular draws are conducted, inviting candidates with the highest CRS scores to apply for permanent residence in Canada.

To be eligible for the Canada Visa Category through Express Entry, applicants must meet the criteria of one of the three main economic immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, or Canadian Experience Class. Additionally, candidates must meet the minimum requirements for language proficiency in English or French, have a certain level of education, and possess relevant work experience.
